City Square, Melbourne will come alive as Channel Nine's TODAY Show weather presenter, Anna Freedman, presents live from the heart of Melbourne.

As the official countdown to Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight® begins, Anna will play host to an array of live entertainment to create the perfect Christmas party atmosphere including Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight® ambassador, Anthony Callea, Ricki-Lee Coulter and musical guru, John Foreman.

There is also a chance to meet five-year-old Victorian Layla who is among thousands of Australians who are living with blindness or low vision - a figure set to double to 600,000 by 2020. Layla is one of many children who are blind or have low vision across the country who will benefit from proceeds raised from this iconic Christmas event.

In August 2009, a national competition was launched to find six of Australia's brightest young stars. Now, these contestants will perform to become the inaugural winner of the ANZ Rob Guest Endowment Award.

Hosted by Bert Newton and Marina Prior, the finalists will share the stage with guest artists including

* The Australian String Quartet
* Lucy Durack and cast members of WICKED
* Caroline O’Connor and cast members of CHICAGO
* Rhonda Burchmore
* Tina Cross
* Peter Cousens

The six talented finalists will be judged by producer Jon Nicholls, Director Roger Hodgman and musical director Guy Simpson with the winner being presented with the award and prize package at the conclusion of the show

Anthony Callea, Paul Martell, the Australian Girls Choir, the String Divas and Kurt Fearnley will keep guests well entertained at the gala evening for the charity ‘working for critically injured kids’.

They sang Time after time, Get Here and Horses - just sublime.

John Foreman accompanied them on the piano. This was such a treat for me. As we arrived at the event Anthony and Tim had just arrived and Anthony took the time to have a chat and later came over (at my request) to take a photo with us. Also at this event there were some dancers from So You Think You Can Dance, Natalie Gauci and Michael Paynter. The comperes were Paul Mercurio and Jessica Rowe. There were lots of celebrities from Grant Denyer, Underbelly stars, Dicko who actually praised Anthony twice.

When I found out that Anthony was going to perform I invited a few of my fellow Anthony fans. I'm sure you will hear from them.

on face book i was scrolling into tina arena's site there is a gorgeous photo of anthony and tina. Apparently they sang the prayer together in melbourne last week. so if you want to see it sign into face book. search for tina arena. once she has added you as her friend you can view it.

hi guys

i went into the adelaide symphony orchestra's website and emailed someone there and asked if Anthony was doing the whole concert or just a couple of songs and they said that Anthony Callea will be doing two pieces, The Prayer and a pieces from ‘The Mission’ call Nella Fantasia. They will be at the end of the first half.

i dont think i will be going. i have a 16month old and the heat will be too much for him and im unlucky in the way i have no baby sitters. im sure everyone here that goes will take lots of photos and reviews about the night.

The photos on the right-hand side are looped, and there is one of Anthony taken from the back of the stage while he was performing last year … you can zoom in for a closer look.

The date for this year’s Big Gay Day is Sunday 15 March.

I have contacted the Wickham Hotel (BrisVegas) where the event is held, and was told the list of entertainers will be advised on the Big Gay Day site when they’re confirmed so at this stage, it is not known whether (or not) Anthony will be performing this year.
