Aussie showbiz couple Tim Campbell and Anthony Callea are to marry in New Zealand.

Campbell is an actor, musical theatre performer and TV presenter who is perhaps best known for his role on Home and Away.

Callea is a singer who was the runner-up in the 2004 season of Australian Idol, who has also performed in musical theatre.

They starred together in Rent from 2007, and in 2008 revealed they were dating.

The couple has told Woman’s Day the decision to get married came during a quiet night at home.

“We were sitting on the couch and I was on my second scotch and Tim was on his first white wine and we made the decision there and then,†Callea said.

They are planning an intimate ceremony in New Zealand, and Callea has tweeted:

While congratulating the couple, Australian Marriage Equality says it’s a shame they can’t get married at home in Australia.,

"It's wonderful that Anthony and Tim have decided to tie the knot but frustrating that they have to travel to New Zealand to do it and that their vows won't be recognised when they return,†says the group’s National Director Rodney Croome.

A total of 234 Australian same-sex couples married in New Zealand between August 2013 and July this year.

A Senate inquiry is currently considering a bill from Greens Senator, Sarah Hanson-Young, that would give overseas same-sex marriages full status as marriages in Australian law.

Currently, two states, Tasmania and Queensland, recognise overseas same-sex marriages as state civil unions, with similar legislation proposed in NSW.

I reckonNew Zealand is doing very well, thank you very much, since it legalised gay marriage.
