Anthony's Double A-Side 'Rain/Bridge Over Troubled Water' Hits Stores
POSTED: 14 Mar 2005

Anthony Callea's debut single 'The Prayer', not only held the #1 position for five consecutive weeks but also set the record books reeling, officially becoming the fastest selling Australian single of all time and the highest selling Australian single ever!

That's a hard act to follow but what better way than with not one follow-up but two! Again proving himself to be an artist that breaks the mould, Anthony's double A-Side single 'Rain/Bridge Over Troubled Water' has been released in a special collectors edition double pack, featuring both singles on a separate disc with their own B side. A standard single disc version is also available.

Timing also couldn't be better for the release of Anthony's version of the classic track 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', made famous by Simon and Garfunkel, as this year the song celebrates 35 years since its original release in 1970.

Anthony teamed up with director Anthony Rose (Shannon Noll, Delta Goodrem, Casey Donovan) to film a different video for each of the new double A-Side singles 'Rain' and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. The two videos - which, like the songs themselves, are very different in style and again show Anthony's diversity as an artist - have both been lapped up by music television shows nationally.

Australian fans will get a chance to come face to face with Anthony's rare talent in a series of national instore performances and signings around the album release in late March. In the meantime Anthony will be setting off on the promotional trail with a hectic schedule of radio and press interviews and TV performances over the coming month, including Rove [Live] tomorrow night - don't miss it!

Anthony Callea's Debut Album Seals His Third #1 Smash!
POSTED: 04 Apr 2005

"Having a #1 album is something I'm sure will take a while to sink in. Its great to know that so many people enjoy my music. Thanks so much to everyone who has supported me, especially over the past six months," Anthony said on hearing the news last night.

Things just keep getting better for this remarkable 22-year-old. First came his debut single, 'The Prayer', which held the #1 position for five consecutive weeks and is officially Australia's highest-selling single by an Australian artist. Anthony's second single, the double A-side single 'Rain/Bridge Over Troubled Water' held the # 1 spot on the ARIA chart for two weeks running.

Denis Handlin, Chairman and CEO of Sony BMG said today, "It is a rare feat for any artist's first three releases to go to #1. We are extremely proud of Anthony's achievements and this is only the beginning."

Recorded over two months, Anthony's debut album is a stunning testament to his undeniable talent, and range and versatility as an artist. Not many other performers could travel so seamlessly from a cover of Andrea Bocelli's 'The Prayer' to the classic track, 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', to 'Rain', one of the hottest radio pop songs in the country.

So what's next? Anthony is now heading off on a series of show dates before expanding to a national tour, with more dates still to be announced for July/August this year. Fans in Sydney and Melbourne will be the first to experience the Callea magic live in concert, with tickets to shows in the two cities going on sale today via usual outlets - don't miss him!

Holy Flying Undies! Anthony Callea Mania Hits Bankstown
POSTED: 13 Jul 2005

It was a stunning moment of pure old pop star glory, when Anthony Callea hit Bankstown in Sydney last Thursday to perform his new single and was swamped by a mass of girls undies flung up on stage while he was mid-song. Even Anthony couldn't resist having a bit of a laugh at the over zealous fans, picking up a pair and tossing them casually over his shoulder as he continued to deliver yet another spectacular rendition of 'Hurts So Bad. The show followed hot on the heels of Anthony's appearance at Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne earlier in the week, drawing another 2,500 fans turn see Anthony perform and get copies of the single signed, and was a telling warm-up for Anthony's appearance on Video Hits live on Saturday morning, where Brisbane fans flooded the Queen St Mall from as early as 6am. With his first complete national tour kicking off this week in Bundaberg, Queensland, Anthony's performance in Sydney on Thursday confirmed he is sounding better than ever and fans should prepare themselves for a series of amazing live concert extravaganzas.
