What's In Store For The Stars In 2010

What's in store for the stars in 2010.

Christmas is over and the stars are looking forward to a big 2010. The Sunday Herald Sun had exclusive access with Channel 9 behind the scenes at this year's Carols By Candlelight at the Myer Music Bowl and some of the big names revealed their plans for the New Year.

Lovely write-up re: Anthony and Tim.

ACTOR and musician TIM CAMPBELL will go to Los Angeles next month to try his luck in the pilot season.

Campbell was in Tinseltown recently and secured a US Management team.

''I guess I don't feel like I'm an Aussie actor unless I go to Los Angeles," he said.

"I've been already sending audition tapes over from here, but I guess this will be the next big step."

The Former Home and Away star said he had held off going overseas because he had rarely been out of work.

''I've been lucky I've been busy working here all the time, but I thought 'I've got a window here now', so
I thought 'It's now or never'."

Campbell's partner ANTHONY CALLEA will head to Los Angeles in January to visit him.

Callea is also planning a big year, with a new album ready to be recorded. It will be his first original album
since 2006.

He has a new manager in DAVID CHAMPION, who guided JESSICA MAUBOY to great success this year.

Callea has done the demos for the new music, and will go into the recording studio early next year.

"Everything is virtually in place," he said.

The couple spent Christmas at the Callea household, with Campbell's parents flying in from Sydney.

''They are getting the whole Callea experience of food and indulgence," Campbell said.

Celebrity Scandals, Bust-ups And Deaths Year In Review
Gold Coast News
23-12-2009

http://www.goldcoast...-in-review.html

Year in Review

MATCHES:

The award for the most bizarre wedding of the year must surely go to Geoffrey Edelsten, 66, and Brynne Gordon, 26.

Gordon was splashed all over the gossip magazines after she wore a revealing Las Vegas showgirl-inspired outfit to the AFL Brownlow medal presentation in September.

Hollywood stars Jason Alexander and Fran Drescher were part of official proceedings at the wedding, as were James Reyne and Anthony Callea and hundreds of dancers.
The event is rumoured to have cost more than $3 million, and boasted the likes of Molly Meldrum, Chris Judd, Peter Helliar, Dave Hughes and Tottie Goldsmith among the 500 guests.

About two weeks later, Edelsten crashed the helicopter that had featured at his wedding, but escaped unharmed.

Aussie model and TV personality Kristy Hinze, 30, married billionaire Netscape founder Jim Clark, 65, in a beach ceremony in March.

Hinze wore an Oscar de la Renta gown as she wed Clark on the Caribbean island of Virgin Gorda, attended by seven bridesmaids.

Guests celebrated over four days on Sir Richard Branson's private Necker Island and Clark's $US100 million yacht.

In a more low-key beach wedding, TV host Rove McManus married actress Tasma Walton in Broome, Western Australia, in June.

Walton proposed to McManus, having first asked his mother for her blessing.

The bride wore a white vintage 1970s sundress, while the groom went barefoot during the ceremony.

It was the second marriage for McManus, who lost his first wife Belinda Emmett to breast cancer in November 2006.

Shane Warne and his estranged wife Simone Callahan started appearing at events together, prompting speculation they are giving it another go.

Tim Gets A 'gaylie' Gong.
The Age Online
17-12-2009

SOME celebrities win Logies and others win Gaylies - gongs awarded to the 25 most influential gay and lesbian Australians. And, today, the co-founder of the Same Same website, Tim Duggan, announces the winners. There's former High Court judge Michael Kirby, Senator Bob Brown, Kerryn Phelps, Jonathan Welch, Adam Elliot, Tim Campbell, Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham, Christos Tsiolkas, David Malouf, Julie McCrossin and Ruby Rose. The first posthumous award goes to poet Dorothy Porter. Kirby was recognised for continuing to ''influence and direct public debate with his reasoned and insightful commentary'' after hanging up his wig and gown. Campbell was gonged for ''living openly and successfully'' as a gay man, his prayers answered when meeting Anthony Callea.

BRIGHTON East youngster Layla Bodnar will be in experienced hands next week for her starring role in the Carols by Candlelight at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Layla, 5, who has just been named the face of the event by Vision Australia, will be joined by singer Anthony Callea, who has been made official ambassador.

Just six weeks old when diagnosed with a serious eye condition, Layla remains an inspiration, say her parents Max and Konji.

As for Callea, it is the second time he will be the show's ambassador and the sixth time he has performed at the much-loved event.

"I couldn't imagine spending Christmas Eve any other way," he said.

"In the role of ambassador I've been lucky enough to meet some fantastic kids and their families who are achieving remarkable things despite being blind or having low vision.

"Their stories have inspired me and it will make this year's performance a lot more meaningful for me."

The official eight-page guide to Vision Australia's Carols By Candlelight will be published in tomorrow's Herald Sun.

It?s Just Not Christmas Without Carols
The Australian - Media Diary Blog
9-12-2009

http://blogs.theaust...without_carols/

YOU can tell who is in favour at a TV network by who is picked to host the annual Christmas Carols broadcast. Network execs usually choose the stars who are the ?face of the network? - and those that appeal to the mums and dads of suburbia.

For 18 years Ray Martin was ?the face? of Channel Nine?s Christmas Carols, and he was incredibly proud of the fact, but he was dumped when he officially retired even though he does still appear on screen occasionally.

That honour has now gone to Lisa Wilkinson and Karl Stefanovic, who also fronted Nine?s sales pitch to advertisers and media buyers last week.

The Today show co-hosts will present the 2009 Vision Australia?s Carols by Candlelight concert.

The free concert is also broadcast live from Melbourne?s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Thursday, December 24 from 8.00pm on Channel Nine.

Over on Seven, the faces of the carols have not been as consistent, but this year?s show will be hosted for the third time by presenter Grant Denyer and actress Kate Ritchie, who isn?t even signed to the network.

Ritchie was Seven?s Logie winning golden girl but she moved into breakfast radio after stepping down from Home and Away after 20 years.

Singer Anthony Callea is headlining Nine?s event which is celebrating its 72nd performance this year.

Callea, a former Australian idol runner-up will be joined by other former Idol contestants Guy Sebastian, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Paulini Curuenavuli and Carl Riseley.

Former Idol musical director John Foreman will direct and produce the event for Nine.

While Nine?s show is in Melbourne, Seven?s is in Sydney in The Domain, on Saturday December 19, at 8.30pm.

Woolworths Carols In The Domain provides crucial support to The Oasis Youth Support Network, The Salvation Army?s response to youth homelessness.

2009 Carols by Candlelight line-up on Nine
8-12-2009

http://whatsonthetub...ine-up-on-nine/

The Nine Network?s annual Carols by Candlelight will return again this year for the 72nd time in association with Vision Australia at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. Once again the event will be hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson who took over hosting duties from Ray Martin in 2008.

The Carols will broadcast live at 8:00pm on December 24 with this year?s ambassador being Anthony Callea saying, ?I love Christmas, there?s real magic in the air at this time of year and for me nothing captures the spirit of the season quite like Carols?.

This year?s performers include, Guy Sebastian, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Paulini Curuenavuli and Carl Riseley, who will each perform a selection of all-time Christmas favourites. The Ten Tenors and The Jersey Boys will also perform to entertain the older crowd while Frankie J. Holden, Wilbur Wilde, Joe Camilleri, Ross Wilson and Glen Shorrock will assemble for one night only as The Legends of Rock.

Of course it wouldn?t be a Carols without HI-5 and Humphrey B. Bear joining forces with Santa Clause. John Foreman is returning as musical director and for the first time will produce the entire evening.

Carols by Candlelight airs on the Nine Network, December 24 at 8:00pm

Anthony Callea to be Here in Monash

http://waverley-lead...here-in-monash/

JOY to the world: the Mt Waverley Carols is just around the corner, and this year a host of entertainers will make your local Mt Waverley Carols 2009 an unforgettable event.

http://images.wherei...b3e_resized.JPG

Anthony Callea (pictured), Patti Newton and Silvie Paladino will serve as a fantastic introduction to the festive season, with more than 2000 people expected to attend the December 5 event.

This year the committee chose big-name stars to help entertain the increasing crowds, with the 80-piece Camberwell Chorale and orchestra also on hand to lead the singing.

Patti Newton returns as MC for the night, and the musical director of the Sidney Myer Music Bowl Carols by Candlelight, Douglas Heywood, will direct the show.

Originally just an event put on by the Mt Waverley Village traders, the carols has now expanded to include the whole of Mt Waverley.

The Mt Waverley Carols 2009 will be held on December 5 in the carpark of Mt Waverley Village, off Winbourne Rd. Gates open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start. Bring your own seating.
